Fed: Aussie businesses urged to capitalise on Tassie princess
Australian businesses are being encouraged to cash in on "the Mary factor": the Danish
obsession with the Tasmanian girl who is to become their princess.
The honorary consul general for Denmark in Victoria JAN RAVENHOLT says Europeans are
smitten with Denmark's new soon-to-be Crown Princess MARY DONALDSON.
Mr RAVENHOLT says this presents opportunities for Australia.
He says European tourists are already visiting Tasmania to see where the newest princess-in-waiting
and future Queen of Denmark grew up.
The consul general says the "Mary factor" is so powerful that Australian tourism and
export businesses should be falling over themselves to capitalise upon the renewed interest
in all things Australian.
Mr RAVENHOLT says Australian businesses could develop links with Danish companies and
gain access to Scandinavia and the rest of the European Union through Copenhagen.
Ms DONALDSON marries Crown Prince FREDERIK at Copenhagen's Lutheran cathedral on May the 14th.
