TAS: Former top jockey s husband still critical
HOBART, April 6 AAP - Former champion jockey Bev Buckingham-King fought her way back
from terrible injury and is confident her critically-hurt husband can now do the same.
Jason King, 27, today remained in a critical condition in Royal Hobart Hospital with
head injuries received in a car crash.
Ms Buckingham-King, who herself made a remarkable recovery from injuries suffered in
a race fall two years ago and is now expecting their first baby, is confident her husband
will make a full recovery.
Mr King suffered severe head injuries when his car left the road near Latrobe in northern
Tasmania on Tuesday night.
He was airlifted to Hobart yesterday and is in intensive care at Royal Hobart Hospital.
Ms Buckingham-King, who is walking unaided after being paralysed from the race fall
and only discovered she was pregnant last week, said she was originally told her husband's
injuries looked very bad and he could have permanent brain damage.
But after a CAT scan, doctors said his brain looked okay, despite a small fracture
at the base of his skull.
