Vic: One dead in house fire

MELBOURNE, Aug 22 AAP - One person has died in a house fire south-east of Melbourne
this morning, police said.

Firefighters discovered the body inside the Pakenham home after being called to the
blaze around 5am (AEST), a police spokesman said.

He said the cause of the fire was unknown and arson squad detectives had been called
in to investigate.

Police had not yet been able to identify the body, but the elderly female occupant
of the house was unaccounted for, the spokesman said.
